Birds of the Band

The bird banding at Prairie Ridge today yielded some nice catches. Downies, Thrashers, Yellowthroats, Phoebes, Song Sparrows, Titmice, Wrens, Palm and Yellow Warblers, and an unidentified Empidonax flycatcher all landed in our nets and received a special silver-colored band as a reward. The Empid was narrowed down to one of the Traill’s pair (Willow or Alder) based on information from Pyle’s. Here are a few photos:
