A Piece of Meat

I first saw the owl chicks about 4 days ago. They are in the Barred Owl cavity over at Exercise Station #16. I had suspected they had hatched because Mom wasn’t on the nest as often. Because the cavity is deep, I have seen only the tops of their fuzzy, white heads, and occasionally I have seen one of the chicks peering out through a peep hole in the left side of the cavity wall.

But today, I watched Mom or Dad bring a piece of meat to the chicks. It appeared to be the recent remains of a chick of a different bird species. Here are a few meager photos:
