Birding Road Trip Marathon with Chip

My birding buddy, Chip, and I just returned from our annual overnight road trip birding marathon. We saw or heard 102 species yesterday and today. We started from Cary, NC, and stopped first at Pee Dee NWR. What a birdy spot on the map! Then we drove to Frank Liske Park in Concord and on up to the Blue Ridge Parkway where we camped primitively at Graveyard Fields. On up the parkway, we stopped at lots of overlooks. Saw or heard many warblers (Ceruleans, bay-breasted, black-throateds, and more). And some life birds were added to my list. It was an awesome trip, and I’ve learned lots about the birds and their habitats (with lots more to learn). Some of the lists and locations below…
